A mobile weighbridge that comes to you

Get Weighed uses mobile wireless weighing pads and a towball scale accurate to 1kg. We weigh each wheel and axle of your towing vehicle and caravan, boat, trade vehicle, trailer, or 4WD.

Caravan on wireless weighing pads with a Get Weighed sign

Caravan Weighing

Get Weighed will weigh each wheel and axle of your tow vehicle and caravan.

We will advise you of your GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass), TBM (Tow Ball Mass), GTM (Gross Trailer Mass), GCM (Gross Combination Mass), and ATM (Aggregate Trailer Mass), and provide a comprehensive report to explain:

  • if you are legal
  • what your allowable payload is
  • what steps (if necessary) you may need to take to reduce weight.

4WD Weighing

Know your GVM

4-wheel drives are a great way to see the great outdoors, however accessories – bullbars, canopies, fridges, etc – add significant weight to your vehicle.

Determine your true vehicle weight with a visit from Get Weighed.

Using our mobile wireless weighing pads, we can determine your Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and we also weigh each wheel and both axles so you can determine where you may need to spread the load and reduce weight.

Boat and trailer on weighing pads

Boat Weighing

Unsure how much your trailer and boat weigh?

Get Weighed can quickly determine your Gross Trailer Mass (GTM) – the mass carried by the trailer's axles with everything on the trailer (the boat, outboard motor, fuel, fishing gear, etc).

Your Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) is the combination of GTM and TBM.

Did you know that if you are overweight your insurance may not pay in the event of an accident? Make sure you are legal.

Trade ute and trailer being weighed

Trade Vehicles

Know your GVM

Get Weighed can easily determine the weight of your 'tradie' vehicle and/or trailer when fully loaded and ready for work.

You can be fined or have an insurance claim denied for being overweight.

Get Weighed comes to your workplace with our mobile wireless weighing pads and provides a comprehensive report on your weights.

Horse float on weighing pads

Horse Floats

Unsure how much your horse float weighs?

Get Weighed can quickly determine your Gross Trailer Mass (GTM) – the mass carried by the trailer's axles with everything in it including horses, feed, saddles, fencing, etc.

Your Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) is the combination of GTM and TBM.

Did you know that if you are overweight your insurance may not pay in the event of an accident? Make sure you are legal.

Are you towing illegally?

Towing laws differ across Australian states and territories and there can be hefty fines and licence demerit points if you break them.

Each state has slightly different road laws and regulations. In addition to not exceeding maximum weights for towing vehicles and caravans, some of the things you need to be aware of include: towing mirrors, number plates obstructed by towbars, the correct number plate height from the ground, 'Do not overtake turning vehicle' signs and the laws that relate to them, speed limits when towing, caravan sway, etc.

Five reasons you should get your caravan and tow vehicle weighed by Get Weighed

  1. Peace of mind

Get peace of mind knowing your caravan and tow vehicle weights are under the legal limits. Know and understand your GVM, GTM, ATM, and GCM. Ensure you are safe and save yourself a hefty fine and loss of points on your driver's licence.

  2. Safer handling

Incorrect loading or being overweight can lead to caravan sway and make it more difficult to recover the vehicle in an emergency situation. High winds, slippery roads, rough roads, or a B-double truck passing you can upset the handling of a vehicle and caravan. By starting off balanced you will have a better chance of staying out of the ditch.

  3. Balanced loading

When you buy a caravan, the dealer may not show you the weight balance of the caravan, so when loading the caravan you are guessing where to load and how to keep the caravan evenly loaded. By weighing each wheel of the caravan, Get Weighed can give you all the information on wheel, axle, and side-to-side weights so you can correctly load your caravan – a well-balanced caravan is easier to tow.

  4. Less fuel and wear

Too much weight in the vehicle and caravan can affect the vehicle's performance, use more fuel, and wear components. An unbalanced vehicle and caravan means the vehicle (and you) work harder. Get Weighed often has comments from clients saying their caravan is easier to tow after getting the weight balance right and they are less tired whilst driving.

  5. Avoid fines, warranty and insurance problems

All the acronyms (GVM, GTM, ATM, GCM) are legal limits imposed by the vehicle and caravan manufacturers. Exceeding these limits is illegal and can put you at risk of a fine, loss of warranty if something breaks, and loss of insurance if being overweight contributed to an accident. That can be very costly!

To avoid all of this, it is important to weigh your caravan (and your entire rig) correctly before leaving for your next holiday.

Tow vehicle and caravan weight terminology explained

Diagram showing where Gross Vehicle Mass is measured

Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM)

The GVM is the maximum weight that a vehicle can weigh (including fuel, occupants, cargo, accessories, etc). This is set by the vehicle manufacturer.

Do not exceed

Diagram showing where Tow Ball Mass is measured

Tow Ball Mass (TBM)

The TBM, or tow ball weight, is the weight exerted on the towball by the loaded caravan. It is recommended to keep this around 10% of the ATM of the caravan.

Diagram showing where Tare Trailer Mass is measured

Tare Trailer Mass (TTM)

The TTM is the weight of an empty or unladen caravan. This is set by the caravan manufacturer.

Diagram showing where Aggregate Trailer Mass is measured

Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM)

The ATM is the maximum permissible weight of your caravan when loaded and uncoupled from a vehicle (including gas bottles, water, cargo, accessories, etc). This is set by the caravan manufacturer.

Do not exceed

Diagram showing where Gross Trailer Mass is measured

Gross Trailer Mass (GTM)

The GTM is the weight imposed on the caravan's axle/s when fully loaded and connected to the tow vehicle. This is calculated by subtracting the Tow Ball Mass (TBM) from the Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM).

Do not exceed

Diagram showing where Gross Combination Mass is measured

Gross Combination Mass (GCM)

The GCM is the maximum permissible total combined weight of the vehicle and the towed weight. This is set by the vehicle and caravan manufacturers.
